St. Stanislaus R.C. church in New Haven is a beautiful building that the church strives to maintain in top condition. The 24 rank Hall organ, installed in the early 1920s, was later tonally modified by the Geddes firm of Winsted, CT. Work included a replacement console with improved combination action and switching mechanism.
Foley Baker cleaned, releathered and lighted the organ in 1982.
In 2006, money came available for a complete console overhaul. Only the existing shell and bench was retained, with a new OSI pedalboard replacing the very non-conforming original. The new relay system was by Classic of Markham, Ontario and includes all the features now common to console upgrades: multi level combination action, record/playback, transposer, MIDI prep, etc.
Besides noticeably improving the instrument’s dependability, it also sped up the electrical signal between keys and pipes; resulting in an improvement in the organ’s articulation. The organ remains in excellent condition. |
