Foley-Baker was honored to get the commission to remove, completely recondition and reinstall this organ. It had been built by the Wicks Company in the 1950s. Additions over the years had all led to serious compromises in the layout and accessibility of the pipes. In some cases, tonal egress and pipe speech was being compromised. Work included complete tonal and layout re-design plus installation of state-of-the-art relays. No small task given the fact that all had to remain within the confines of the Hook (opus 11) case. This beautiful, historic American building (the first Baptist church in the new world) remains very original and well maintained, including the organ. |
